What is Quora – Quora is a question and answer website where question is asked, answered and edited by internet users in the form of opinion. Quora was first created on 2009 and was made available for public use in the year of 2010. And it is formed by former employees of Facebook Adam D’Angelo AND Charlie Cheever.

Quora allows its users to ask questions, merge questions, follow a question, answer a question, request to answer a question, suggest edits, upvote, downvote, thank, comment, share and bookmark.

What is Quora & Why Quora?

We already had other websites where our queries could be solved but still a new website! Other sites like Wikipedia and Facebook are informative they are not interactive whereas on Quora we find the interface very comfortable.  

Early life:

2010-2013 period of growth

Quora was recently established in the year of 2010 the platform was new and tinder. But since the very beginning itself Quora was successful on attracting public towards itself it provided a better place for experts in their on field to discuss topic and gather public opinion In January 2013, Quora launched a blogging platform allowing users to post non-answer content on their profiles.

In November 2013 Quora introduced a feature called Stats to allow all Quora users to see summary and detailed statistics regarding how many people had viewed, upvoted, and shared their questions and answers.

2013- 2017 period of ads, foreign language

This was the time when Yahoo answers, reddit, Wikipedia was already a established platforms on internet and were doing really well, but Quora still managed to create a place for itself and during these years.

Quora started posting sponsored ads and added a major hit on its website which was the addition of foreign language, now Quora introduced foreign language which impressed public a lot because they were now able to spread their ideas into their very own language.  

2018 – Present   Data breach

In September 2018, Quora reported that it was receiving 300 million unique visitors every month.

In December 2018, Quora announced that approximately 100 million user accounts were affected by a data breach, Quora has a option to sign up by linking in your social media account and the data breach costed their users a comptonization on their personal data Angelo stated that this data breach is serious issue and will be rectified as early as possible.

Quora is monitored by R2D2 looking spam spotting bots. They’re on the prowl full time. They check for spams on Quora and report those profile to keep Quora clean.
